The glorious ancient history of Odisha has been mentioned in the famous texts like ‘Mahabharata’, ‘Vayu purana’ and most importantly King Ashoka has mentioned about Kalinga and the bloody war of Kalinga in his edicts. From emperor Kharabela to Gajapati kingdom many rulers have ruled over the state.

Konark Sun Temple

When the talk of the temple is going on how can someone forget about the konark sun Temple? Where sun radiation first comes inside the temple this temple was built by Narasamideva.

The great Konark Sun Temple (13th century) was designed as a chariot of the sun God, associated with seven horses and twenty four wheels. It reflects the remarkable genius of architects that envisioned and went through it.

Jagannath Puri Temple

Puri is famous for the world famous Shri Jagannath Temple & Longest Golden Beach. It is one of the Dhamas (Holiest of the holy place) out of four Dhamas i.e. Puri, Dwarika, Badrinath & Rameswar, in India.

Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath alomg with sister Devi Subhadra and elder brother Mahaprabhu Shri Balabhadra are being worshipped in Puri (The Purusottama Kshetra). The deities are seated on the Bejeweled Pedestal (Ratna Simhassana).

Shri Jagannath Puri Temple is one of the most impressive monuments of the Indian State Odisha, was constructed by a famous king of Ganga Dynasty Ananta Varman Chodaganga Deva dating back to 12th century at the seashore Puri. The main temple of Shri Jagannath is an impressive and amazing structure constructed in Kalinga architecture, with a height of 65 meters placed on an elevated platform.

There are so many festivals of Sri Jagannath during the year observed in Puri. Which are Snana Yatra, Netrotsava, Ratha Yatra (car festival), Sayan Ekadasi, Chitalagi Amabasya, Srikrushna Janma, Dussehra etc. The most important festival is the World famous Rath Yatra (Car Festival) & Bahuda Yatra. A large crowd is gathered to witness Mahaprabhu Shri Jagannath durig this festival.

Short Itinerary

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : 14 March : Puri – Konark – Puri

• Upon arrival at Railway Station, transfer to Puri Hotel, then check into the hotel & relax.
• After freshening up, drive to Konark Sun temple (also known as “Black Pagoda”).
• Then visit Chandrabhaga beach(famous for its long stretch of golden sand border), & enjoy the beautiful light & sound show (8.00 PM) and back to Puri hotel & overnight stay at Puri.

Day 2 : 15 March : Puri – Chilika – Jagannath Temple – Puri

• After breakfast proceed to Chilka lake at Satpada (It is Asia’s largest brackish water lake & spreads across 1,100 sq km. the lake is a winter hub of many spectacular migratory birds). Arrival Satapara takes a boat to meet the Irrawaddy Dolphins, Sea-mouth and Rajhans island.
• Then drive back to Puri, visit the 12th century world famous Jagannath Temple (one of the four dhams), enjoy at golden sea beach, back to hotel & overnight stay at Puri.

Day 3 : 16 March : Puri – Bhubaneswar

• After breakfast, checkout from hotel then drive to Bhubaneswar enroute visit Dhauli ( Budhist stupa/ peace pagoda ), Hirapur ( 64 yogini temple ), Pipli ( the applique work village ) & Raghurajpur ( the Artisan village, the most famous attraction here are the Pattachitra (miniature paintings ), Palm leaf engravings, stone carvings, wooden toys, tusser paintings etc.
• After reaching Bhubneshwar visit Nandankanan Zoo(This zoo is famous for its variety of wildlife sanctuary & also famous for white Tiger & Lion Safari(Closed On Monday) and botanical garden, then check in to the Hotel & overnight stay at Bhubaneswar.

Day 4 : 17 March : Bhubaneswar

• After breakfast, drive to sightseeing and visit Khandagiri & Udaigiri Jain caves ( oldest rock cut caves, the caves are reminiscent of influences of Buddhism and Jainism), and Lingaraj Temple. Mukteswara Temple, Rajarani Temple,Tribal museum(Closed On Monday). Overnight at the hotel.

Day 5 : 18 March : Bhubaneswar Airport / Railway station Drop

• Today after breakfast, check-out from the hotel and drop to the airport… Trip ends with memories.
