About Raigad Trek

Raigad Fort is a magnificent hill fortress, situated in the Raigad district of Maharashtra. It lies approximately 125 km away from Pune and serves as one of the major excursions of the city. The fort once served as the capital of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, the Great Maratha king, in 1674. It was around this time only that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj was crowned the King of a Marathi kingdom. Perched at an altitude of 1350 m or 4530 feet above sea level, Raigarh fort falls under the Sahyadri Mountain range of India.

The main structures inside the Raigad Fort, which today stands mostly in ruins, comprise of Queen’s Quarters, Public Durbar, Watch Towers, Darwaza or gateways, Water tanks, temples, etc. The Queen’s Quarters consist of six chambers in toto, meant for the queen and her attendants. The central place situated inside the fort was constructed mainly out of wood. However, apart from its base, made up of pillars, hardly anything else remains. One can also be witness to the ruins of the three watchtowers, which were once used to spot any threat from a distance.

The main entrance of the Raigarh Fort comprises the Maha Darwaja, colossal, and protected from enemies. However, the King, as well as his convoy, used to move through the Palkhi Darwaja. The three dark and deep chambers, situated to the right of the Palkhi Darwaja, are believed to have served as the fort’s granaries. One of the Raigad Fort’s main attractions is a magnificent statue of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, which is situated opposite the ruins of the main market avenue. The Samadhi tomb of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and his dog Waghya is located near the market.

We’ll be boarding non-A/C bus from our nearest pickup point. Bus timings are shared below for convenience:

Itinerary

Day 1: Wednesday

• 10:00 PM: Meet at Borivali Station West. & other pickups.
  (Bus Route: Borivali- Goregaon- Sion – Navi Mumbai – Panvel)

Day 2: Thursday

• 5:00 AM: Reach Base village & washroom break
• 6:30 AM: After Breakfast Start trekking.
• 8:30 AM : Reach at top. Onward explore fort.
• 10:30 AM: Start descent.
• 12.00 PM: Reach Base village and enjoy Lunch
• 1:30 PM: Start our return journey to Mumbai.

Event Fee: Rs.1490/- per person. Payment once done is non-refundable, do check for availability before making a payment.

Cost Excludes

• All kinds of extra meals / soft drinks ordered.
• Insurance, tips, porters, bottled mineral water, aerated drinks etc.
• Any kind of personal expenses.
• Any kind of cost which is not mentioned in the cost includes above.
• All expenses incurred due to unforeseen and unavoidable circumstances like roadblocks, bad weather.

Things to carry

• Identity Card
• Some ready to eat food like- plum cakes, fruits, chocolates, biscuits, etc
• 2 Litres of water must
• Torch and shoes (Compulsory)
• Extra pair of clothes, socks optional
• Cap, Camera as Optional
• 1 packet of electrol, enerzal, glucon-D
• Medications if required for individual
• Avoid wearing precious ornaments on an event, if possible
• And a haversack or backpack to put all the above things to be carried, so hands are free to help each other while trekking. Sling bags / jholas / trolley bags etc not allowed on the event. Please pack accordingly.

Important Notes:

• Toilet Facility is not available at the base village. Considering it an outdoor activity, please prepare accordingly.
• We advise participant with any medical issues /history not to opt for this event. Still If he/she does so, it should be at the participant’s risk. The management won’t be responsible for any incident.
• Considering complicated route and respecting everyone’s time, we will not entertain any participant reaching base village by his/her own vehicle. One can come till meeting point by his/her vehicle and park it there and join our transport from there.
• Smoking/drinking/smoke up is strictly prohibited during the event. Anyone found doing so will be immediately expelled from the event.
• We request you to go through the complete itinerary. Since it is a group event, we will not be in position to entertain any request of leaving early from the event. Respecting the fellow trekmates, please adhere to the schedule and take back lovely memories.
