Vasota Fort
In a very remote area and around the Koyana Reservoir this fort is main attraction for the trekkers. This is an ancient fort, built in the period of 1178 AD to 1193 AD by the second King Bhoj banquet of Panhala. Chatrapati Shivaji Maharaj named this fort as ‘Vyaghragarh’ Vasota mountain top is estimated to be around 15 acres of crown. Here is to a large extent on the forest with presence of bears and other wild animals to a large extent today.

On the fort there are some places to see such as Lime ‘ghana’, Hanuman temple, ‘Chandika’ temple and ‘Babukada’. On the top of the ‘Vasota’ there is old ‘Vasota’ which is higher than this ‘Vasota’. Here large numbers of bears are found. At the North side of the fort, there is ‘Mhataricha Anghata’ (Old lady’s toe), various mountain ranges and some part of ‘Shivsagar’ reservoir. Also from here beautiful view of sunset can be seen. Besideson in the fort there is castle and grain warehouse of Tai Telin. From this fort ‘Mahipatgarh;, ‘Sumargarh’, ‘Palgarh’ and ‘Mahimandalgarh’ can be seen.
It also looks panoramic view of the river and the situation of the bulk water. This ‘Vasota’ fort was used for the prison. The idols of God and substances of ‘Ramdas’ of‘ Sajjangarh’ were kept during Aurangjeb’s attack. Also, after the defeat in 1817, of Bajirao second in the battle of Khadaki, Pratapsingh Maharaj and his family was kept in this fort. Towards ‘Vasota’ fort on the way, there is a small diversion route, there is surprising another way of ‘Nageshwar’ Temple. This characteristic temple is built in the cave. Currently there is railing near the ‘‘Nageshwar’ cave. New ‘Vasota’ and drinking water lakes are situated at the ‘Nageshwar’. There is appearance of wild life also. Therefore, someone who knows all these should be taken along for the touring. During the ‘Mahashivratri’ there is fair to be held.

Day 0 Friday Night
10:00 pm Depart for Satara in a A/C bus (We will manage pick-ups from pre-decided locations depending upon the participants
Day 1 Saturday
05:00 am Arrive in base village and take some rest
06:00 am freshen-up and have breakfast, followed by tea
07:00 am Move towards the Koyna Backwaters boating point
09:00 am Reach Indavali
09:30 am Gear up for the trek as per the instructions
12:30 pm Reach Vasota top, explore the Vasota fort, take some rest
01:30 pm After Exploration have tummy tight lunch and rest for a while
02:30 pm Start descending towards the base
04:00 pm Reach the base village
05:00 pm Overnight stay and camping near the lake
08:30 pm Join us for dinner, where we have village cuisines, specially prepared to bring in a taste of authentic country side food.
Day 2 Sunday
06:00 am Wake-up call, freshen-up and have breakfast, followed by tea
08:00 am Start journey towards Ajinkyatara fort
09:00 am Reached Ajinkyatara fort, Explore the fort
01:00 pm Lunch near the fort
02:00 pm Leave for Mumbai. Enroute visit Sangam Mahuli (If time permits)
10:00 pm Reach Mumbai and bid adieu with a promise to meet soon
